Default How will Anet work around this?

Ok for the record I did search so i have 75% Res to fire/flame damage so don't try, and if it has been posted before a long time ago please forgive me im only human and have a life outside of reading 300 old posts :P

I will post the question twice, long version with lots of usless comments and rambling about yelling at old people and the short version with just the question.. why?, because i can.

Long version.

So i just started thinking about how cool it would to be to read the GW Strategy Guide right now (even though ive beaten the game twice and all, oh well i still pick up the old SC Strategy guide every now and again for a good read so whats the harm.) Now its summer and i normaly keep the thinking to a minimum, however when i start to think its a powerful thing.. Anyways i will spare you the long story and get to the point.. Ive noticed that Anet has changed and still is changing a lot of content (skill costs, items, armor, quests, yada yada yada) and i wanted to know how Anet plans to.. well make the strategy guide actualy helpful for this information. Now now now i know what your thinking, why spend money on that when you can get it all free on the web? Well its just the thought that i would have it and could shout "I have the GW strategy guide!" at old people as they walk past my house.

Short boring-ish version
Anet has changed the game so much such as skill costs, quests, and items. Any idea on how they plan make the strategy guides useful for this information?

Normaly i would think they would just update it (v1.00, v1.01, and so on) but im not sure how fair that would be to people who own the older versions.. Just thought i should know some information before i blow $15 on a cool book cover with no real useful information..

Anyways any useful information will be nice

*disclaimer: personal opinion follows*

strategy guides are worthless anyway. if i wanted someone else to play the game for me i'd go download some videos of people playing guild wars.

With reference to the Primo Strategy Guide. Arenanet has no control over the updating of that guide as it is published by another company. They did cooperate to create the original but the information in the guide is based on Beta play and they made several major changes at release, not to mention all the changes since release. It's up to the publisher of the guide to update if they want to. I personally doubt they will. I'd say save your money and check out the information available here. It's comparable and more up to date.

Furthermore, prima has said that they will be posting errata on their website at some point in the future.

The Prima Guide is not very useful anymore, every update makes it less useful. The company needs to have a dynamic guide available online, for paying customers.

yes... and it's prima's loss not Anet's. If you want the best strategy guide (constantly updated) try going here. It has worked fine for me since I first picked up the game like 2 or 3 months ago.

Quoted for the truth!!

But in the end it's up to Prima to update their guides, not ANet. This is because the strategy guide is Prima's and not ANet's - the only conenction is that ANet would have provided the base information that the Prima guide is based off. And as we all know, the base info has changed quite a bit since GW was released. So any attempt to update the guide has to be made by Prima, not ANet.

In the end I'd advise against buying the Prima strategy book, unless you like the book art and art-work in it and want to be able to say "I have it!".. heh Cyz it's likely to be mostly useless by now
